Christmas Day Vehicle Accident Kills Woman, Young Boy

A supposedly joyful celebration in Pasadena tragically ended after a vehicle accident on Christmas day that claimed the life of a woman and a young boy, reports said.

According to news reports, the 25-year-old woman and the 11-year old boy were killed after the minivan that they were riding was struck by a fleeing suspect riding in an SUV at a high rate of speed.

The incident was reported at around 9 o’clock in the evening at the corner of Maple Street and North Marengo Avenue in Pasadena, California. The Pasadena Police Department claimed that the SUV was being pursued by the police for a traffic violation when the incident occurred.

The identities of the victims were not yet released pending notification of next of kin. Also, it was not yet revealed whether the victims were related to each other.

Meanwhile, shortly after the incident, four unidentified persons were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter. However, they were first transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries before they were arrested.

Further reports claimed that three passengers of the minivan were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries aside from the two others who were killed. Nevertheless, the extent of their injuries was not yet determined.

Meanwhile, officers of the Pasadena police are currently conducting an investigation regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident. In addition, the same also pledged to seek guidance from the California Highway Patrol, according to Police Chief Phillip Sanchez.

As it is, it was just so saddening that similar incident keeps on happening often. Apparently, when a police pursuit occurs, accident comes next. Hopefully, authorities will soon find a way to prevent the same from recurring while people will learn to observe laws, a Los Angeles injury lawyer said.
