- Use the side of the road where cars are coming opposite you. That way, you can see if the vehicle is about to hit you. You can also have a chance to avoid it;
- Walk or jog during the day or where roads are properly lit.
- Before crossing, stop first and look both sides for approaching vehicles. Use the pedestrian lane when crossing.
- When walking or jogging at night or on dark areas, it is advisable to have a reflector with you so that the cars can see you as they pass by.
- As much as possible, use the sidewalks or joggers’ lane in order to prevent car-related injuries.
- Avoid walking on the streets when under the influence of alcoholic beverages or addictive drugs.
- Avoid walking alone.
