Los Angeles Radio Host in Serious Condition after Car Accident

As recently reported, the Christian radio show host, Frank Patore, is in serious condition last Friday after getting into a serious car accident last November 19.

According to news reports, the KKLA/99.5 radio show host was on his way home after his talk show on the Glendale-based Christian radio station when a driver lost control of his car along 210 Freeway, crossed the center divider, and then struck his motorcycle.

As a result of which, Pastore was ejected from his motorcycle and suffered brain injury. Paramedics immediately responded to the scene and airlifted him to the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center.

The news was disclosed to radio listeners by Pastore’s co-radio host, Frank Sontag. Sontag usually substitutes Pastore every Thursdays and Fridays on his 4 to 7 o’clock radio program. Nevertheless, Sontag never mentioned any other details to the listeners aside from the fact that Pastore is in serious condition.

Looking through Pastore’s personal background, media sources claimed that he became a professional baseball player pitcher for the Cincinatti Reds from 1979 to 1985, and for the Minnesota Twins in 1986. Moreover, he reportedly earned a degree in business administration, philosophy, or religion and ethics, political philosophy, and American government from different universities. He is married for 30 years and has two children.

Apparently, aside from his family, Pastore has dedicated almost his entire life learning and mastering his chosen career and seeing to it that he would remain tight with his religious beliefs at the same time.

Meanwhile, a Los Angeles motorcycle attorney here wishes for the radio host’s fast recovery so that he could have more time spreading the word of God to other people. He claimed that Pastore serves as a great model for everyone since he is being admired for his words of encouragement.

Miley Cyrus Allegedly Crashed Rented Car into Pole

Miley Cyrus’ state of being well-known has earned the attention of the crowd to the point that whatever she wears, eats, and does and even her hairstyle were being watched by everybody. Also, the said singer-songwriter and actress loves tweeting even the smallest details of her life.

However, what she missed or probably intentionally missed to tweet are the details about her alleged involvement in a car accident.

According to a news report, the Disney darling apparently slammed her rented SUV into a pole in a parking garage in Philadelphia. A photo of Cyrus’ suspected damaged rented car was even posted in an online news website.

Cyrus’ was reportedly eyed in Philadelphia visiting her fiancĂ©, Liam Hemsworth, who was then filming a movie in the east coast.

Furthermore, Cyrus was also seen getting another rental car in Philadelphia. Therefore, speculations about her alleged car accident sparked even more upon seeing her in her new rented car. Rumors have it that Cyrus crashed her first rented car, which is why she needed to rent a new one.

Nevertheless, although issues regarding her car accident are quickly spreading over the Internet, Cyrus still remains discreet and even her spokesperson was not giving any confirmation regarding the incident until present.

Generally, when a celebrity gets into an accident, whether serious or minor, it immediately spreads all over. Yet, this accident has been kept under the radar, something that a Los Angeles accident attorney clearly understands why.

With the success of Walt Disney Records’ Hannah Montana in 2006, Cyrus likewise started gaining success and fame. In 2007, she signed a deal with Hollywood Records to continue a solo career. Since then, Cyrus has been a renowned actress, singer, and songwriter.

Many New Luxury Cars Failed to Pass Car Accident Test

In a new car accident test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, it found out that most luxury cars may not be able to provide protection from severe injuries to its passengers during vehicle accidents.

The insurance group revealed that only three out of eleven high-end vehicles from the 2012 model year passed the new car accident test, which focused at front-corner impacts since front-corner is often not well protected by vehicles’ crush zone structures.

Incidentally, crash zone structures are already available in modern vehicles. However, the same is only better in protecting passengers from direct collision from the front; therefore, the insurance group is calling for a better safety gear.

Meanwhile, automakers that earned poor rating in the test include BMW, Mercedes, and Lexus.

The rating was derived from a test that simulated what happens as the front corner of a car hits another vehicle or a solid object like a tree or a pole. In the said crash test, the insurance group rammed 25 percent of a car’s front-end on the driver’s side into a 5-foot high rigid barrier at a speed of 40mph.

Meanwhile, the insurance group plans to incorporate the same in tests of other vehicles.

The fact here is that if luxury vehicles are failing at a high level, it is possible that most cars will not likely perform well, according to Consumer Reports’ auto testing program director, David Champion.

Champion speculated that it will take five to ten years more before automakers finally figure out how to perform best in the crash test.

During the recent crash test, both the Acura TL and Volvo S60 earned good ratings, while the Infiniti G was rated as acceptable. On the other hand, Audi’s A4, Lexus ES350, Lexus IS 250/350, and Mercedes Benz C-Class received poor ratings.

The insurance group anticipates that the new rating program will address the problem of small overlap car accidents.

A Los Angeles auto accident attorney agrees with the insurance group when the latter said that the automakers could possibly provide more effective protection by designing the passenger safety cage to avoid front-corner impacts, which could result to serious leg and foot injuries.

4-car Crash Leaves Woman Dead after Being Struck by Flying Concrete

A 52-year-old woman from Antelope reportedly died from a four-car accident after the car she was driving was hit by a flying concrete.

Reports said that the incident was a chain reaction accident that occurred early afternoon last Thursday on Highway 99 in Modesto. The identity of the woman killed from the incident has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer said that based on their initial investigation, the accident started when a 25-year old driver sideswiped a box truck, which subsequently struck into a concrete center divider. Due to the strong impact, concrete debris flew through the air and a huge chunk hit the windshield of the woman’s pickup truck.

The CHP were subsequently forced to shut down several lanes of Highway 99, which paralyzed traffic flow for more than a couple of hours, the Modesto Bee reported.

Accordingly, chain accidents are just among the many types of car accidents. Chain accident obviously means that there are more than two vehicles involved and more often than not, the impact caused by the collision is strong. Its impact almost always creates a chain reaction where the vehicles involved are pushed forward, thereby hitting another vehicle.

Generally, determining who is at fault in such chain accident is simply a matter of common sense. However, when it comes to relating the negligence act to a specific traffic law, it would require some legal advice from experts.

In some instances, insurance companies cover the costs resulting from the accident, provided that there is sufficient evidence that you were not at fault. Nevertheless, in some cases, the insurance policy does not cover the driver, particularly when proving who is at fault seems to be not straightforward as it should always be, explained a personal injury lawyer in Los Angeles.

Sleeping Pill Blamed for Kerry Kennedy’s Car Accident

Final investigation revealed that a sleeping pill with a generic name of Ambien might be the major cause for the car accident wherein Kerry Kennedy got involved.

Kennedy was recently involved in a car accident and was arrested after her Lexus struck a tractor trailer in New York.

During the initial investigation, Kennedy claimed that she had a seizure and she lost her consciousness while behind the wheels. She told police that she probably accidentally taken an Ambien sleeping pill instead of her daily thyroid pill.

Kennedy further claimed in her initial statement that she only gained her consciousness as she was being pulled over by a police officer.

Kennedy actually underwent fingerprinting before she was released by the police. Also, she underwent both blood and urine tests which revealed that there were Ambien traces present in her system during the time of the accident.

In a recent court hearing in a North Castle, New York court, Kennedy pleaded guilty to charges of driving while impaired. Kennedy is scheduled to appear in court on August 14, according to the North Castle Justice clerk of court.

Although the accident might indeed be purely excusable on her part, it is really something to look at when Kennedy pleaded guilty for the incident. She even asked for an apology from the driver of the tractor trailer as well as from the other drivers on the road during the incident.

It is quite impressive how a highly publicized person would step down to court and admitted her fault and issue a public apology for someone she just met from an accident. No doubt she came from a family of politician. Just like her ancestry, obviously she has a soft spot for people, said by a Los Angeles car accident attorney.

Kennedy is the daughter of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and niece of the former U.S. president, John F. Kennedy. She is also the estranged wife of New York governor Andrew Kuomo.

4 Mothers Going for a Mother’s Day Night Out Killed in Tragic Car Crash

Four mothers were killed in a tragic vehicle accident Sunday while they were traveling for a mother’s day night out.

Based on the initial investigation, the vehicle that the women were riding was traveling at a high speed when it crashed into a cement support column that holds up the elevated Green Line tracks in 4800 block of Lake. The car split into two.

Authorities tried to revive the four by transporting them to Mount Sinai hospital but they were pronounced dead at the hospital.

A mother in another vehicle told the police that they were about to meet the four at a downtown night club when the accident occurred.

The mothers involved in the crash were identified as Tyshyra Hines, 21, Alicia Goston, 22, Bernadette Harris, 25, and Ieshia Nelson, 21, all resident of 1200  block of North Lockwood.

Police did not mention who was driving the car, but relatives of the women believed that Nelson was driving the car when the accident occurred. According to the women’s relatives, the mothers were close friends who all lived in one neighborhood.

The mothers left six innocent children. Authorities were informed that Tyshyra was a single mom to a 4-year-old girl, Harris was a mother of three, Nelson was a mother of a 2-year-old boy, while Goston had a 2-year-old son.

Apparently, over speeding was a main factor in the said mother’s day car accident. A supposed to be an enjoyable mother’s day celebration turned to be a horrific tragedy for the four moms.

In such cases of car accident, chances of recovery seem close to impossible particularly if the investigation found out that the main cause of the accident was over speeding. Even a Los Angeles auto accident attorney can attest to that.

2 Consecutive Accidents in 405 Freeway at Van Nuys Occurred within 4 Days

Within a four-day period, two car accidents have occurred in 405 Freeway in Van Nuys, Los Angeles.

The first accident occurred at around 8:45 p.m. Saturday wherein 4-vehicles were involved, leaving three people seriously injured.

According to a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson, Matt Spence, the accident involving three cars and one motorcycle happened in the North bound lane of Burbank Boulevard.

Aside from the above-said facts, no further details yet were released by the authorities since investigations to determine the main cause of the multi-vehicle accident is still underway.

The second accident happened four days after the first traffic mishap at the same location.

The second accident, which occurred at around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, was a single crash involving a pickup truck.

According to witnesses, the pickup truck was over speeding when it plowed through the center divider of the freeway and struck into a tower which supports a freeway overpass.

The truck driver was pronounced dead at the accident scene, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department officials.

All lanes on the northbound side were closed due to the first collision all throughout the 405 Freeway, while several southbound lanes and all northbound were likewise paralyzed as authorities conduct investigation. The 405 Freeway was re-opened after wrecks have been cleared.

In such cases of car accidents, liable parties may be forced to pay for the complainant’s lawyer, aside from the personal damages and compensation for the personal injuries and damages sustained.

Meanwhile, before victims may obtain the said possible compensations, elements of the case must be proven first. Here, Los Angeles injury attorneys who can provide legal assistance throughout the litigation are very significant to win the case.

Ex-Nickelodeon Star Amanda Bynes Figures in Minor Car Accident

Former Nickelodeon child star, Amanda Bynes was reportedly involved in a minor car accident and was arrested for alleged drunk driving.

According to reports, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) nabbed Bynes following a report stating that the actress was involved in a minor car accident as a result of her driving under the influence.

Allegedly, Bynes hit an LA County Sheriff’s car while home bound at around 3 o’clock in the morning in the intersection of N/B Robertson Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard.

Police report says that a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy vehicle was about to turn right at the intersection when the black BMW driven by Bynes attempted to pass to the right of the Sheriff Deputy’s vehicle and struck its right rear quarter panel in the process. The collision damaged both vehicles.

Subsequently, Bynes was arrested for drunk driving following the fender-bender and was given a citation at West Hollywood Sheriff Station. She was subsequently released from the police custody upon paying the $5,000 bail, but she was still required to appear on court one of these days since the hearing date was not yet set.

Last month, Bynes was reportedly pulled over for using a hand held device while driving, but fled away as the police was writing a ticket for her. She was also caught leaving Greystone Manor looking highly intoxicated the same month.

Apparently, Bynes was claimed to be the new Lindsay Lohan for having successive scandals and traffic mishaps. However, Bynes’ father, Rick Bynes denied that her daughter was drunk when the accident occurred. Rick further said that the accident wasn’t to be blamed on Bynes.

Although nobody sustained personal injuries from the said minor car accident, the party who suffered losses and damages may also file for legal claims against the responsible party. In most incidents, victims resort in consulting an accident attorney Los Angeles to guide and represent them in whatever legal action they may desire under the federal laws.

LAPD, CHP Beef up Enforcement on Distracted Drivers

As part of the second National Distracted Driving Awareness Month which is being held annually, both the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) are making a double effort in cracking down distracted drivers.

Both agencies have been directed to enforce a “zero tolerance” policy towards drivers whom they consider to be driving recklessly as a result of multi-tasking while driving.

Distracted driving is a very serious issue, according to LAPD officer Lt. Ronald Katona. In fact, according to the US Department of Transportation, distracted drivers, or those who use mobile phones are 23 times more possibly to be involved in a car accident than those who firmly keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel.

Distracted drivers who will be caught violating the rule will be penalized and required to pay a monetary relief of $159, while each succeeding offense will have a minimum cost of $279.

Therefore, before handling your mobile phones for calling, talking or texting, think twice since authorities are now strictly observing violators.

Furthermore, activities such as eating or applying makeup or even simply tuning on the radio can lead to a violation, said CHP spokesperson Rick Quintero.

There is no particular citation for distracted driving. However there will be an absolute violation once a driver was caught over speeding or staggering due to a distracting activity. In such event, authorities may pull them over, Quintero added.

Probably, observing the people being too much distracted by the technology has led the authorities to warn drivers about distracted driving. Driving is actually a multi-tasking activity as it is. Therefore, adding more distracting activities while driving will definitely put drivers, as well as passengers, into high risk of accidents.

An injury attorney in Los Angeles totally agrees on the authorities’ precautionary measures to keep drivers from being distracted while driving, as well as to prevent further injuries and death caused by the same.

Car Accident Causes Temporary Power Outage in La Habra

A car accident that occurred last Monday morning in La Habra, Orange County, California caused a temporary power outage within the area.

According to news reports, the single car accident happened at around 2 o’clock in the morning, Monday when the car struck down a power pole in the area of Lambert Road and Cypress Street.

The collision had caused power outage within the area according to La Habra police authorities who responded to the area right after they received a report of a vehicle that crashed into a pole.

No injuries have been reported from the said crash. Even the 21-year old driver, Andrew Delos Reyes of Whittier California, did not sustain any personal injury. However, the driver of the said car was arrested on the same day on suspicion of Driving under the Influence (DUI), which authorities suspected as the major factor to the incident.

The power has been restored an hour after the incident. According to Edison spokeswoman Mashi Nyssen, about 3,000 Southern California Edison customers were affected by the power outage. However, some residents claim that their power was not restored. Consequently, Edison is trying to detect and fix the problem, while Nyssen assures the residents that they could expect full power restoration until Wednesday night.

Also, parts of Lambert Road between Euclid St. and Harbor Boulevard are expected to be reopened on Wednesday afternoon once reconstruction has been done.

Anyone who has suffered losses or damages from a car accident may always seek for legal remedies through the help of a Los Angeles injury lawyer. Delos Reyes is still lucky enough that no one was injured from the said car accident. However, he would probably be penalized by either the city or the electric company for the damages that the said accident brought.

Camp Pendleton Marines Involved in a Car Accident Caused by a High Rate of Speed

Four Camp Pendleton Marines were involved in a car accident because of over speeding in Orange County, California.

According to reports, the marines were driving along Dana Point at around 2 o’clock in the morning last February 14 when their car crashed into a palm tree.

Police said that all died with the exception of the driver. However, he is still in critical condition at a hospital while the two were pronounced dead at the scene and the other one died at the hospital.

Based on the initial investigation, the car was traveling at a high-speed rate that is why it struck the curb and then crashed into a tree. The Orange County Sherriff’s Department spokesperson said that it took them almost half an hour to extricate the victims from their car.

Authorities found out that the four were active members of the Marines at Camp Pendleton, California.

Though the initial investigation confirmed that over speeding was the reason for the mishap, authorities are still on the probe on whether alcohol was also a factor. .

Identities of the marines were not yet released due to the pending notification of their nearest relatives.

The number of car accidents in the US every year has already exceeded six million. In fact, most of the injured victims consult a car accident attorney Los Angeles to guide and represent them in many of their legal options as stated under their civil rights.

Drowsy Driver Hits LAPD Cars, Two Critically Injured

When you go to sleep, you always hope for a beautiful dream. However, if you sleep at the wrong place and at the wrong time, you only get nightmares. This is what happened to a 64-year-old woman driver when she fell asleep while behind the wheel.

According to reports, the car driven by a female motorist crashed into two Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) patrol cars in Woodland Hills. The car accident left the two police officers in critical condition, and two others sustained minor injuries.

Police reports said that the two LAPD cars were parked at Fallbrook Avenue when a black Jaguar hit the two police vehicles. According to investigation findings, the woman driver who incurred minor injuries is believed to have fallen asleep while driving.

It is obvious that driving while sleepy can pose threats to other road users. The National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) conducted studies on drowsy driving in 2004. Here are some of the findings from the research:

•    People aged 18 to 29 are more likely to drive while sleepy compared to other age groups
•    Male drivers are more likely to drive while drowsy compared to women
•    People who sleep for six to seven hours a day are two times more likely to be involved in a car accident than those people who get eight hours of sleep

People who get hurt in a car accident due to drowsy driving can file for compensation claims against the involved driver. It is the legal duty of the liable driver to provide compensation for the damage and loss that he or she had cost the victim.

To know more on car accidents in California, you may consult with a Los Angeles attorney. Your lawyer will help you file a lawsuit and assert compensation for your losses. Contact our toll fee number at 1-866-772-2889 or email us at info@mesriani.com for a free case analysis.

Wrong Way Driver Pleads Not Guilty for Death of Santee Deputy in Car Crash

The wrong-way driver that was being chased by Deputy Ken Collier before the crash that ended his life has pleaded not guilty to the charge of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

Jose Pedro Lopez, 22, may face up to 11 years in prison if convicted.

Lopez was arrested following the car accident on state route 52 last weekend.

Deputy ken Collier of the Santee Sheriff’s Department spotted Lopez going east on the westbound lanes and was moving one lane to the other.

Deputy Collier made a U-turn and tried to halt the vehicle but he ran out of room and struck the concrete abutment for an overpass between Santo road and Mast Boulevard.

Deputy Collier’s SUV fell about 500-600 feet down a ravine.

He was brought to a hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Although most of us want Lopez in jail, I am not so sure if the manslaughter charge will stick because Lopez did not hit Collier’s car.

It is working on the assumption that if not for Lopez actions, then Collier would not have died.

Other factors may have caused the crash like other vehicles, Collier’s own driving abilities or even the SUV itself (SUVs are notorious for being prone to rollovers).

In criminal law, guilt has to be proven without reasonable doubt, and it will be difficult to prove that in this case.

The family of Collier may try filing a wrongful death against Lopez in civil court regardless of what happens in the criminal case.

The standards for proving liability in civil court is not as stringent because unlike in criminal court where the defendant’s freedom is at stake, damages in civil lawsuit are often just monetary.

Minimizing Road accidents

Road safety must be observed by every motorist to prevent injuring or killing innocent people. A female teenager was in a very bad condition after she was hit by a minivan when she was crossing the street in Santa Ana. She was walking in the afternoon when the 78 year old man’s Dodge minivan hit and dragged her afterwards.

Drivers should be more careful when driving. They should follow strictly traffic rules and regulations because what happened above can happen to anyone.

When someone is involved in a car accident, the medical response team must be contacted immediately. The names and contact numbers of the victims should be gathered as well as those of the witnesses of the car accident. Pictures may be taken of the cars involved.

The police and the insurance company should be contacted immediately. The information gathered in the accident scene such as the pictures and police report will help the investigation. The victim may file a claim to receive reimbursements for all the damages sustained such as medical treatment for the injuries, salary lost, damages of the properties, pain and suffering.

A good lawyer must have credible track record in handling cases and specializes on car accidents. He will guide his clients in every stage of a lawsuit.
