2 Consecutive Accidents in 405 Freeway at Van Nuys Occurred within 4 Days

Within a four-day period, two car accidents have occurred in 405 Freeway in Van Nuys, Los Angeles.

The first accident occurred at around 8:45 p.m. Saturday wherein 4-vehicles were involved, leaving three people seriously injured.

According to a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson, Matt Spence, the accident involving three cars and one motorcycle happened in the North bound lane of Burbank Boulevard.

Aside from the above-said facts, no further details yet were released by the authorities since investigations to determine the main cause of the multi-vehicle accident is still underway.

The second accident happened four days after the first traffic mishap at the same location.

The second accident, which occurred at around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, was a single crash involving a pickup truck.

According to witnesses, the pickup truck was over speeding when it plowed through the center divider of the freeway and struck into a tower which supports a freeway overpass.

The truck driver was pronounced dead at the accident scene, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department officials.

All lanes on the northbound side were closed due to the first collision all throughout the 405 Freeway, while several southbound lanes and all northbound were likewise paralyzed as authorities conduct investigation. The 405 Freeway was re-opened after wrecks have been cleared.

In such cases of car accidents, liable parties may be forced to pay for the complainant’s lawyer, aside from the personal damages and compensation for the personal injuries and damages sustained.

Meanwhile, before victims may obtain the said possible compensations, elements of the case must be proven first. Here, Los Angeles injury attorneys who can provide legal assistance throughout the litigation are very significant to win the case.

Ex-Nickelodeon Star Amanda Bynes Figures in Minor Car Accident

Former Nickelodeon child star, Amanda Bynes was reportedly involved in a minor car accident and was arrested for alleged drunk driving.

According to reports, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) nabbed Bynes following a report stating that the actress was involved in a minor car accident as a result of her driving under the influence.

Allegedly, Bynes hit an LA County Sheriff’s car while home bound at around 3 o’clock in the morning in the intersection of N/B Robertson Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard.

Police report says that a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy vehicle was about to turn right at the intersection when the black BMW driven by Bynes attempted to pass to the right of the Sheriff Deputy’s vehicle and struck its right rear quarter panel in the process. The collision damaged both vehicles.

Subsequently, Bynes was arrested for drunk driving following the fender-bender and was given a citation at West Hollywood Sheriff Station. She was subsequently released from the police custody upon paying the $5,000 bail, but she was still required to appear on court one of these days since the hearing date was not yet set.

Last month, Bynes was reportedly pulled over for using a hand held device while driving, but fled away as the police was writing a ticket for her. She was also caught leaving Greystone Manor looking highly intoxicated the same month.

Apparently, Bynes was claimed to be the new Lindsay Lohan for having successive scandals and traffic mishaps. However, Bynes’ father, Rick Bynes denied that her daughter was drunk when the accident occurred. Rick further said that the accident wasn’t to be blamed on Bynes.

Although nobody sustained personal injuries from the said minor car accident, the party who suffered losses and damages may also file for legal claims against the responsible party. In most incidents, victims resort in consulting an accident attorney Los Angeles to guide and represent them in whatever legal action they may desire under the federal laws.

LAPD, CHP Beef up Enforcement on Distracted Drivers

As part of the second National Distracted Driving Awareness Month which is being held annually, both the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) are making a double effort in cracking down distracted drivers.

Both agencies have been directed to enforce a “zero tolerance” policy towards drivers whom they consider to be driving recklessly as a result of multi-tasking while driving.

Distracted driving is a very serious issue, according to LAPD officer Lt. Ronald Katona. In fact, according to the US Department of Transportation, distracted drivers, or those who use mobile phones are 23 times more possibly to be involved in a car accident than those who firmly keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel.

Distracted drivers who will be caught violating the rule will be penalized and required to pay a monetary relief of $159, while each succeeding offense will have a minimum cost of $279.

Therefore, before handling your mobile phones for calling, talking or texting, think twice since authorities are now strictly observing violators.

Furthermore, activities such as eating or applying makeup or even simply tuning on the radio can lead to a violation, said CHP spokesperson Rick Quintero.

There is no particular citation for distracted driving. However there will be an absolute violation once a driver was caught over speeding or staggering due to a distracting activity. In such event, authorities may pull them over, Quintero added.

Probably, observing the people being too much distracted by the technology has led the authorities to warn drivers about distracted driving. Driving is actually a multi-tasking activity as it is. Therefore, adding more distracting activities while driving will definitely put drivers, as well as passengers, into high risk of accidents.

An injury attorney in Los Angeles totally agrees on the authorities’ precautionary measures to keep drivers from being distracted while driving, as well as to prevent further injuries and death caused by the same.
