Authorities Looking to Identify Route 67 Fatal Pedestrian Accident Victim

Authorities are currently trying to identify the victim of a fatal pedestrian accident on State Route 67 near Bradley Avenue.

The victim was described as a male, probably between 25 and 30 years old.

According to reports, the pedestrian accident occurred at about 3:30 am, Sunday when the victim was struck by a Nissan Murano in the southbound lane of the highway.

The victim was then thrown onto the northbound lanes by the collision where he was struck several more vehicles.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Once the victim is identified, his family can explore the option of making a wrongful death claim with the car accident insurance provider of the Nissan Murano driver.

However, the amount that will be received by the family will also depend on the circumstances surrounding the pedestrian accident.

Questions will be raised on the victim’s own negligence as a contributing factor to the collision.

Various details including where the victim was walking and if he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time will be asked as well.

That is why it is important that the family consult with a wrongful death attorney to help them in the case.

A wrongful death attorney should be able to guide the family through the claims process and protect them from making harmful statements when talking to the insurance adjuster.

If the claim is not resolved, the wrongful death attorney can help the family file a lawsuit and represent them in a jury trial that will decide the level of coverage the insurance company should provide.

Patrol Car Crushed by Train, Officer Injured

The job of police officers often exposes them to different kinds of dangers and puts their life at risk, especially in the event of a vehicle accident.

In fact, a Long Beach police officer sustained injuries after his patrol car was hit by a Blue Line train near Long Beach Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway.

According to reports, the officer was hit while he was traveling along 16th Street.

Police said the southbound train hit the patrol car and dragged it dozens of feet before stopping.

Rescuers needed to use the “Jaws of Life” just to extricate the police officer from his wrecked patrol car. He was then brought to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in a stable condition.

Meanwhile, several train passengers were brought to local hospitals to be treated for back and neck injuries. Their condition did not seem to be serious, said reports.

It is not yet clear if the police officer ran a red light or was responding to an emergency call at the time of the accident.

Dogs Attack Elderly at Golden Gate Park

Two dogs were believed to be responsible for the injuries sustained by a 71-year-old woman and a middle-aged man while they were at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco recently.

Authorities responded to the call and aided the two who were eventually brought to San Francisco General Hospital. They later caught the female dog near Lloyd Lake while the male dog was shot in the face and was taken to a local veterinary clinic.

The dogs are in the custody of San Francisco Animal Care and Control as the owner is yet to claim them. If the dog remains unclaimed, the department will have to make a decision as to what will be done to them.

Owners must never let their dogs wander off as unfortunate incidents like this could happen. They have the responsibility to keep their pets safe and to make sure that they will not hurt anyone.
