Driver Makes Wrong Turn, Metro Bus Gets Stuck

Buses are dangerous during road accidents because of its bulk and weight that can do massive damages to other vehicles nearby. Aside from motorists, commuters are susceptible to injuries that can be incurred from these accidents.

In a recent no-injury incident, the wrong turn of a bus driver has caused delays and hassles to commuters and motorists who were in the area of Brentwood Glen Monday morning.

The passengers of the two-passenger-compartment bus had to transfer to another bus after the driver went into the Sunset Boulevard after getting off the San Diego (405) Freeway.

The driver reportedly attempted to make a U-turn but ended being stuck in bushes. Luckily, no one was reportedly injured and there was no damaged property in the incident.

Bus drivers need to calculate their every move to prevent accidents that would cause delay to commuters and motorists who might be heading to important events or meetings. Also, bus operators must make sure that they hire only qualified and experienced drivers so that passengers will be complacent in using their services. This would also prevent liability in accidents involving these bus drivers.

65-Year-Old man Killed in Concord Pedestrian Accident

A pedestrian accident in Concord claimed the life of one man the other day.

The Contra Cost Coroner’s office identified the victim as Jose Flores, 65 and a resident of Concord.

According to reports, Flores was trying to cross Clayton Road at Barbis Way at about 6pm when a Buick struck him.

Flores was in a crosswalk when the accident happened.

His family should consult with a wrongful death attorney to know if they can file a lawsuit against the driver of the Buick.

In the reports, there is a strong chance that Flores had the right of way before he was hit by the car.

The fact that he was on a crosswalk strongly indicates that as the case.

However, there are circumstances where even if the pedestrian was in a crosswalk, the car may still have the right of way.

One of them of course is if the car had the green and was too close to avoid the collision.

The wrongful death attorney should be able to advise the family about the case based on its facts and details.

Pilot evades Plane Accident but injures 2 Flight Attendants

Tragedy was averted as two planes avoided colliding with each other about 20 miles away from Bob Hope Airport last weekend.

According to FAA reports, the pilot of the Southwest Flight 2534 had to take sudden evasive maneuvers after receiving an automated alert because it was briefly on a collision course with a private aircraft which was about 2 miles away.

Two flight attendants were injured; one broke her shoulder and the other sustained bruises.

The FAA is still investigating the incident.

The most common cause of plane accidents, though, is pilot error.

So it might come down between the Southwest plane pilot and the private plane pilot.

Air traffic control may also be factored in, and the FAA will surely explore that angle as well.

For the injured flight attendants, I am pretty sure that their medical expenses will be covered under the insurance policy of the airline.

They are, after all, injured while on duty.

Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident in Freeway Connector in San Jose

A pedestrian accident claimed one life Sunday evening when a man was hit by a pickup truck while trying to cross a freeway connector in San Jose.

According to the CHP, a man tried to walk across the connector from southbound Highway 87 to northbound Interstate 280 when he was struck by Chevrolet pickup truck.
The driver said that he tried to avoid the man but still hit him in the far right traffic lane.

It was still unclear why the man was trying to cross the connector in the first place.

The victim’s family could file a wrongful death claim against the driver but I doubt that it will be approved by his car accident insurance provider.

It is highly unlikely that the driver will be found liable because he had the right of way and there is no way that he could have reasonably known about the presence of the pedestrian.

The most important thing to find out about this case is the reason for the man’s presence in the connector.

I have a feeling that the answer will answer a lot of questions about the case.

Man Sustains Severe Brain Hemorrhage after Hit and Run Accident

A man sustained severe brain hemorrhage after a hit-and-run car accident in a parking lot of a restaurant in Chula Vista.

The CHP are also looking into a fight that happened in Agave Grill prior to the incident to know if there was a connection.

According to CHP, a group of patrons exited the restaurant and went to the parking lot after an altercation inside.

Moments later, the victim was struck by a red Camaro that did not stop after the collision.

The victim was even able to come home thinking that he was not badly hurt but later felt ill and had to be brought to a hospital.

It turned out that his injuries are more serious than he thought.

The police are now trying to know if the Camaro driver was involved in the fight inside the restaurant.

Aside from civil liabilities, the driver can also be charged with criminal charges.
The victim will likely file a personal injury case against him for his present and future medical expenses.

And the state in turn is likely to file battery and assault with a vehicle charges against him.

Truck Rollover Accident in Harbor 110 Injures Driver

A truck rollover accident in Harbor 110 sent a driver to a hospital for injuries and closed all northbound lanes for more than three hours.

There were no details yet on what caused the truck accident in the first place and if anybody else was injured aside from the driver.

According to reports, firefighters had to cut the driver out of the wreck before he can be brought to a hospital.

Hopefully, he will survive his injuries.

The lanes had to be closed because the shipping container that was being pulled by the Big Rig became detached when the truck rolled over.

The closed northbound lanes were reopened at about 3:54 am to the delight of many motorists.

The driver will probably be covered under the insurance policy of the trucking company since he had been injured on duty.

If he is temporarily unable to work, he could probably avail of worker’s compensation to make up for his lost income as well.

Truck Hits and Kills Pedestrian

Drivers are required to be cautious of anything or anyone they might encounter on the roads, including pedestrians.

A pedestrian who may have been unnoticed by a truck driver died after being struck in Long Beach.

Reports stated that the incident occurred along Wardlow Road and Santa Fe Avenue.

The victim was announced dead at the accident area.

Meanwhile, the driver was questioned by the authorities but was not cited.

Keeping the roads safe is not only up to the drivers, but to everybody who use them.

Road accidents may be avoided if both pedestrians and drivers will respect each other’s designated areas along the roads.

Truck Drifts near Day Care Center after Collision

A green garbage truck crashed onto the metal drive-through fixture just outside a day care center after it collided with an installation van of the Dish Network in Folsom Boulevard recently. The vehicle collision killed the driver of the van, who was identified as a technician of the network.

No one else was reportedly killed in the crash which happened after the westbound van made a turn in front of the eastbound truck. The motorists had to be extricated from their vehicles for some time.

The driver of the truck was brought to a hospital where he was said to be in critical condition. The driver of the van died at the scene.

This head-on collision could have gone a lot worse as reports suggests that the vehicles nearly missed the playground of the First Steps Child Care Center.

Motorists should be more careful when driving near schools, residential areas, and other places where there are a lot of pedestrians whom they can injure.

Drunken Pedestrian Hospitalized after being Struck by Vehicle

The law prohibits drivers from getting behind the wheel whenever they are drunk and impaired by alcohol because the chances of being involved in an accident are higher than the usual. The dangers brought about by drinking may also be seen in accident cases involving pedestrians.

A male pedestrian who was under the influence of alcohol sustained severe injuries after he was struck by a vehicle in San Diego.

The pedestrian was reportedly crossing Federal Boulevard in Webster when he was hit by a Jaguar that was being driven by a male driver in his 30s.

According to authorities, the pedestrian stepped into oncoming traffic prior to the incident.

He was brought to a hospital with severe head injuries.

Pedestrians should be careful when crossing the roads or streets because they are at great risk of sustaining serious injuries when vehicles hit them. They should abide by the law and use the different designated crosswalks to avoid accidents.
