Car Crushing Rule Enforced in Indio

Street racing is indeed a “very dangerous hobby”. It endangers not only the drivers but the bystanders and pedestrians as well. It could even lead to property destruction.

Seeing its threat and danger, the Indio Police Department is the first in Coachella valley to initiate the practice of destroying street racing vehicles. In fact, it had begun crushing street racing vehicles whose owners were found guilty of it.

Investigation revealed that some vehicles involved in street racing had been installed with stolen parts. No wonder auto theft is common in the street racing industry.

San Bernardino and San Diego Counties had already adopted vehicle crushing rules thus the dramatic decrease in street racing related incidents and accidents. By adopting the same rule, the Indio Police Department hopes to achieve the same purpose.

While deaths and injuries are not common in street racing, the fact remains that it could still lead to such consequences. When it does, the outcome is usually more serious than ordinary car accidents.

We do have to have these rules to appraise of how dangerous street racing is. We are old enough to know its dangerous tendencies. Self-regulation is the key but when rules are blatantly violated, enforcers should step in like what the Indio police Department did.

Unidentified Man Killed in a Hit and Run

Stop, look and listen have been the written principle for pedestrians when crossing the streets. Being in the designated crosswalk is not enough warning for some drivers to slow down thus, extra precaution must really be observed.

Take for instance another case of pedestrian accident involving an unidentified man being hit by an unidentified car at Interstate 5 north of downtown Los Angeles. It happened at around 4:30 am, too early for people to witness such incident.

Sadly, this incident would just be among the ever-growing number of unsolved hit and run cases.

Having to hit someone is something but to hit and run someone is another thing. It is required for every driver who has hit someone to stop and give aid, if necessary. Otherwise, the law describes it as hit and run hence punishable either by a fine or imprisonment or both.

Some people would go for what they seemed as an easy solution – to run away from their obligation. Remember, you may have successfully run away from the law but in another time and place you or your loved one may experience the same tragedy. I bet the effect would be worse than what you did to your victim.

Truck Accident on Highway 12

Due to its enormous size, trucks are often intimidating “road mate”. Small vehicles or motorcycles could obviously not measure up in every aspect. Hence, if a truck accident happens, it is surely a dangerous sight.

Dangerous is an understatement in an incident that happened on Friday at Highway 12, Interstate 5.

A 1989 Buick Century swerved into the truck’s lane east of Correia Road. The collision resulted to a fire. Obviously, I need not elaborate on what happened next. For those who were at the accident scene, it must have been a blazing inferno.

The incident claimed the lives of a man and a girl aboard the Buick. The red wine loaded on the truck must have started the fire.

Investigation revealed that the Buick veered into the way of the ongoing truck. Truck driver Juan Prado failed to rescue the victims as flames quickly engulfed the Buick.

A truck crashing with another vehicle or thing is typical but a car crashing through a truck is rather uncommon. Investigators are now inspecting possible mechanical defects or malfunction, as the car left no skid marks.

Until the investigations are complete, the accident remained a mystery as to the possible cause. Human nature dictates that no man in his right man would endanger his life and that of another for no reason at all.
